David Alaba will leave Bayern Munich when his contract expires this summer.
The Austria talisman is set to leave the German juggernauts after 12 full seasons in their first team, which has included nine Bundesliga titles and two Champions League triumphs.
The 28-year-old has already been linked to both Manchester United, and more strongly Real Madrid, over the past few months as he looks for a fresh challenge after what could be his tenth league title.
However, Jurgen Klopp could enter the race to sign the defender, with Chelsea boss Tuchel likely to be very aware of his talent in several positions.
While Alaba has confirmed his intention to leave, he has not yet decided where he will play next season.
He said: "I have made the decision to leave Bayern at the end of this season and try something new.
"It obviously wasn't an easy decision – I've been here for 13 years and the club means a lot to me."
"I haven't decided where I'm going next."
Adding on who he would like to thank: "Everyone, absolutely everyone. I'm really thankful for that and that's why it made this such a hard decision. I can call Bayern my family."
Hansi Flick said of his defender in November: “I’m honestly not happy that we have to deal with this issue this week, when we’re facing two difficult away games to Salzburg and Dortmund.
“I would be happy if David stays at Bayern beyond this season. He is a top player and a really great person."
Bayern sit six points clear at the top of the Bundesliga after 21 fixtures, with Frankfurt up next before their Champions League clash against Lazio.
