Arsenal star Mesut Ozil may not have been playing this season but he leads the way for the Gunners in a statistic which shows Mikel Arteta needs him back.
The German has been watching his side from the sidelines after failing to be included in the Premier League or Europa League squads this season.
But the Gunners have failed to improve without him, though, making inconsistent performances to sit 13th in the table.
Arsenal have only scored nine goals in their domestic campaign, 12 behind rivals Chelsea who lead the way.
And a statistic about Ozil’s creativity shows Arteta may have made a mistake in removing the 32-year-old form the team.
Since the start of last season, the German has created 38 chances in just 18 games, giving him the best chances-per-90-minute rate in the squad at 2.4.
His nearest competition is forward Nicolas Pepe, who may have created more chances with 41 but has taken 38 games to do it for a rate of 1.6.
The Ivorian is joined on this figure by Dani Ceballos (37 chances in 31 games) while Alexandre Lacazette (1.1) and Bukayo Saka (0.9) make the rest of the top five.
But all of those players have taken more than 30 games to achieve their chances.
Manchester United legend Patrice Evra said in response to the graphic: “You’ve got a player like Ozi in your team but there is a lack of creativity in the team.
“You can see it in the states – they’re not lying!”
And the Arsenal faithful joined him in criticism of Ozil’s ostracism in north London.
“No surprise – one of the best creative players,” one supporter said.
Another commented: “This is crazy.”
While a third sent a message to Arteta, writing: “Free Ozil.”
And a fourth simply said: “You can only laugh.”
It comes as Arteta has said he is “hurt and sad” over Ozil’s situation at Arsenal as he has opened up on the axing decision.
