Cristiano Ronaldo ‘will not be returning to Real Madrid this summer’ as the Portuguese star searches for a Manchester United exit.

The 37-year-old is a Bernabeu legend having scored a phenomenal 450 goals in 438 matches for the club between 2009 and 2018, helping them to four Champions League successes.

Ronaldo made a visit to the Spanish capital recently, sparking speculation that he was set to meet Real president Florentino Perez to discuss a return.

He won the Champions League four times during nine successful years with Real Madrid – but the Bernabeu club have ruled out the prospect of bringing him back

But Spanish newspaper Marca say there is no possibility of Ronaldo returning to the Bernabeu as he doesn’t feature in their plans.

Ronaldo’s first season of his second spell at Old Trafford didn’t go at all to plan – although he scored 24 goals, United failed to challenge for any silverware and changed managers mid-season.

It led to Ronaldo informing the club he would like to leave this summer if a suitable offer came in, despite having one year remaining on his contract.

Ronaldo has not been on United’s pre-season tour, which has seen them win all three matches

Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are among the leading European clubs who have ruled out a move for him, while Ronaldo rejected a highly lucrative offer from a Saudi Arabian club.

Now Real Madrid can also be struck off the list of suitors, which is dwindling rapidly with the new campaign looming.

Real are the reigning European champions and Ronaldo has made no secret of his desire to win the Champions League for the fifth time, as well as extend his lead over Lionel Messi in the competition’s all-time scorers’ chart.

Instead, he looks set to play in the Europa League with United after they only managed a sixth-place finish last season.

Ronaldo did not travel with Erik ten Hag and his squad on United’s pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia because of family reasons.

United have won all three of their tour matches so far, racking up 11 goals in the process and Anthony Martial, playing in Ronaldo’s centre forward position, has scored in each fixture.
