Cristiano Ronaldo fans have torn into Lionel Messi after his latest appearance in El Clasico.
Barcelona were humbled at the Nou Camp by their arch-rivals Real Madrid in a 3-1 result.
It left Ronald Koeman fuious with the officials but it has put Los Blancos in the driving seat in La Liga after a stuttering start from both Spanish powerhouses.
Real went top after the win, while Barca are languishing in 12th.
But in a match that has been lit up on so many occasions by Messi and Ronaldo, the latter remains the most effective – stats show.
And fans of the now- Juventus forward were quick to broadcast that message in the latest sting between supporters of both superstars.
Ronaldo is the top scorer in El Clasico matches at the Nou Camp with 12 goals in nine seasons.
Messi, on the other hand, has 11 in 17 seasons – though it could be argued that several of those years include the Argentine as a youngster, while Ronaldo was an established star by the time he moved to Madrid.
Another stat CR7 fans levelled on social media was his goal ratio in El Clasico, which now trumps his long-time rival's after his blank on Saturday.
One fan tweeted: "Never forget the fact that since Cristiano left Madrid, he has scored as many goals in El Clasicos as Messi has.
Another replied: "I remember when the haters used to say CR7 didn't score in big games."
A third stat was more overbearing, pointing out how Ronaldo has scored five goals in five matches this season.
Whereas Messi has netted three – all from the penalty spot – in eight games.
It has no doubt been a tough start to the season for the Barcelona talisman, who was desperate to leave the club in the summer.
Question marks will arise over whether his commitment is at the highest level this year.
But what cannot be denied is a turbulent period at Los Cules has affected performances on the pitch, with unpopular president Josep Maria Bartomeu still in charge.
