Cristiano Ronaldo is considering a sensational return to Manchester United next summer, according to reports.

The Portuguese superstar has spent the last two years at Juventus, producing a return of 71 goals in 94 appearances for Italy’s long-running champions.

Nevertheless, it is believed Juve chiefs are keen to offload him in the next summer transfer window and trim their wage bill due to financial concerns amid the coronavirus pandemic, with Ronaldo currently raking in a staggering £28million per year.

That is around five times the amount Argentina ace Paulo Dybala collects in Turin, meaning the club would benefit heavily from cashing in on him.

And according to FOX America journalist Christian Martin, Ronaldo is eyeing up a potential return to United.

The former Red Devils forward is said to be “considering” heading back to Old Trafford, where he first developed into one of the most talented players in world football before leaving for Real Madrid in 2009.

United have reportedly “tempted” their ex-star with an offer to return next season and Juve are prepared to begin negotiating the move should he give them the green light.

Ronaldo made 292 appearances in his time at United, scoring 118 goals and winning three Premier League titles, two League Cups, the FA Cup and the Champions League.

After claiming his first Ballon d’Or in 2008, CR7 sealed a then-world-record £80million move to Madrid a year later and cemented a legacy as one of the greatest players in history at the Bernabeu.

In 2014 he dropped a major hint about returning to Old Trafford, saying: “I love Manchester. Everyone knows that. Manchester is in my heart.

“The supporters are amazing and I wish I can come back one day.”

However, United could face competition for Ronaldo’s signature from Paris St-Germain, who are also in the running to prise him away from Juve.
