Chris Kamara has jokingly suggested that Arsenal could make a move for Harry Kane as the race to sign the England striker hots up.
Kane is edging closer to an exit from Tottenham after telling the London club he wants to leave following another season in which they failed to win any silverware.
The 27-year-old has grown frustrated with the lack of success at Spurs, despite finishing as the Premier League’s top scorer for the third time in four seasons.
Several top-flight sides would be interested in signing the England captain this summer, including Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea.
Those sides would appear to be among a handful of clubs who would be able to afford Tottenham’s asking price for Kane, understood to be in the region of £150million.
And Kamara believes that Spurs fans would not be angry if Kane did indeed make an exit this summer in a search for silverware.
Though the former Premier League midfielder did warn the striker that opinions may change if he instead moved to Tottenham’s fierce rivals Arsenal.
“I don’t think there’s a Spurs fan who will begrudge him going away to seek medals. I really don’t, I think it’s a different scenario,” he said.
Which club will Harry kane be playing for next season? Comment below.
“Mind you, if he turns up on Arsenal’s doorstep, it might be a problem. But I doubt that [happening].
“I think one of the Manchester clubs would welcome his ability and with Aguero going, he looks the obvious choice.”
Despite his light-hearted suggestion that Arsenal could plot a move for Kane, Kamara believes that the striker will end up in Manchester.
“You tend to look to see who would benefit. When you look at the Champions League final, you look at the fact that City played without a centre forward,” he said.
“That wouldn’t have been possible if Harry Kane was there. I though it shouldn’t have been possible with a fit Sergio Aguero there to be honest, but that’s the way Pep chose to do it.
“I think he fits the criteria for them. The same as United, they need a goalscorer week in, week out, who can guarantee 20 plus goals. Getting that amount of goals guarantees you success.”
Subway teamed up with Chris Kamara to unveil a once in a lifetime garden stadium experience for five lucky England fans in Woking, after they lost their Euros tickets due to reduced stadium capacity.
With football fever building, Subway has launched brand-new Match Day Bundles , including their new Nacho Chicken Bites , Nacho Chicken Sub and Potato Crispers – customers can order new menu items in-store or via delivery services including Just Eat, Uber Eats and Deliveroo.
