Erling Haaland’s ‘time in England will come’ says pundit
Chelsea think they can fend off interest from Manchester United to sign Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland when the transfer window reopens at the end of the campaign, according to reports. The Norway international has been in sublime form this season, scoring 12 goals from 11 Bundesliga matches. However, while the Blues want to secure his signature, Real Madrid appear to be in pole position.
Chelsea spent big on Timo Werner back in the summer but, so far, the Germany international has failed to live up to expectations.
He’s found the net just four times from 18 Premier League matches this term, with Frank Lampard struggling to coax the best from him.
Chelsea are facing the prospect of losing Olivier Giroud at the end of the campaign, with the France international’s contract winding down.
And Tammy Abraham still struggles to achieve consistency at Stamford Bridge as well.
With all that in mind, Chelsea are determined to land Haaland when the transfer window opens at the end of the season.

United’s interest in the Norway international has been well-documented, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a huge admirer despite being rejected 12 months ago.
And The Athletic say Chelsea are confident they can win the race for the striker’s signature.
It’s claimed the Blues are ready to strike this summer, thinking their rivals will wait until 2022 when the player’s release clause of £66m kicks in.
They’re ready to do their ‘utmost’ to bring Haaland to west London but, while that’s the case, there’s a problem.
The report adds Haaland is keen on a move to Real Madrid, with the La Liga giants looking to strengthen their own frontline.

And the Blues would have to negotiate with Haaland’s agent, Mino Raiola, who angered them in 2017 when he brokered Romelu Lukaku’s move to United.
Lukaku had been their top transfer target under Antonio Conte.
But the Belgium international ended up moving to United instead, where he spent two years before departing for Inter Milan in 2019.
Meanwhile, Germany legend Lothar Matthaus recently claimed Haaland was ‘ready for the next step’ in his career after blitzing the Bundesliga with Dortmund.
He told the Bundesliga website: “This positivity that he radiates, radiates on the team which is why I think that someday, Haaland will not be playing at Dortmund anymore and will make the next step.
“He is already ready and we are proud to have him in the Bundesliga.
“Dortmund need to be pleased to have gotten him because he is a striker that fits to a club with such emotions.
“At the age of 20, he is a machine. He is a flying striker.
“He brings a positive energy in the team while also scoring goals. He is irreplaceable.”
Haaland’s dad, Alf-Inge, recently opened up on his son’s childhood heroes.
And while he admired Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Cristiano Ronaldo, Robin Hood appeared to be his main icon.
“He loved Ibrahimovic and Cristiano, but also Balotelli,” he said.
“His hero, however, was Robin Hood. Once we went together to Sherwood Forest.
“He likes to cook and I can assure you that he is a great chef. He prefers above all meat or fish, he is a food freak.”
