Chelsea target Anel Ahmedhodzic all but confirms he is joining Serie A side Atalanta after the Malmo defender’s father accused his agent Markus Rosenberg of blocking a £7m move to Stamford Bridge
- Chelsea were interested in signing Malmo defender Anel Ahmedhodzic last year
- The Premier League side were interested in a £7million move this year
- But the centre-back has now all but confirmed he is joining Italian side Atalanta
- The player’s agent was blamed by father Misrad for blocking a move to Chelsea
Chelsea are set to miss out on a move for Malmo defender Anel Ahmedhodzic as the 21-year-old has appeared to confirm a summer move to Atalanta.
The Bosnian defender has been scouted by the Blues several times and the Premier League side made a £7million move for the centre-back towards the back end of last year.
But a Stamford Bridge moved fell through for Ahmedhodzic, who was at Nottingham Forest before joining Swedish club Malmo in 2019 and the player now seems to be on his way to Italy.

The 21-year-old told Gianlucadimarzio.com: ‘My move to Atalanta is not yet official. There are two clubs in Italy that have looked for me, but with the Nerazzurri the negotiations are now in an advanced stage.
‘Many clubs followed me and wanted me already in January. Milan asked for information about me, as a child I looked at Maldini who is one of the idols that inspire me.
‘Atalanta is the ideal place for a young player who wants to grow, I can’t wait to test myself.’
Chelsea made an approach for Ahmedhodzic after the end of the last summer transfer in October but the player’s father claimed the defender’s agent does not have the contacts to seal a move away from Malmo.
Agent Markus Rosenberg (left) told Chelsea chief Marina Granovskaia back in November that his client was not going to join the Premier League club
When asked about agent Markus Rosenberg back in November, Mirsad Ahmedhodzic claimed, as reported by the Sun: ‘He’s (Rosenberg) not doing his job. He has told Marina (Granovskaia) at Chelsea that Anel is not going there.
‘He wants to go abroad after the season finishes. He also believes that Italian agent Fredrico Pastorelli has been in talks with several club across Europe to make a deal happen for Ahmedhodzic.
‘Markus hasn’t arranged this, he doesn’t have the contacts. I have tried to inform Markus that Pastorello wants to cooperate with him.’

Ahmedhodzic played 29 times for Malmo in the 2020 Swedish top-flight last season in his first campaign as a regular for the Sky Blues.
He came through the youth ranks at Malmo but departed his hometown club to join Forest in January 2016, where he made his professional debut shortly afterwards.
After just one appearance in three years at the club, the defender rejoined Malmo and became a first-team player following a season on loan at Danish side Hobro IK in the 2019-20 season.
