Chelsea star Reece James’ dad has revealed that his son’s dream is to one day captain the Blues. Nigel James has tipped the England international to surpass the Chelsea legacies of John Terry and Didier Drogba.
James has enjoyed a sensational start to his Chelsea career.
He made his 100th appearance during the Stamford Bridge outfit’s shock 3-2 defeat by West Ham on Saturday.
The wing-back has directly contributed to eight goals in just 11 games this season: he has four goals and four assists.
And now, James Snr has admitted that he will get emotional if he sees his son captain the Blues.

He has backed the defender to surpass Terry and Drogba by becoming a Chelsea legend having been at the club for so long.
“100 games… you just sit there and think, ‘Wow’. To do that at 21… there are some people who play 300 in their career,” dad Nigel told The Athletic.
“But I’m not emotional. The part where I will be emotional is the day he becomes Chelsea captain. That’s his ambition and mine as well.
“Didier Drogba was a legend and so was John Terry. But Reece has been at Chelsea since he was six.

“There isn’t a player who has been there that young and gone on to wear the armband. The goal is to be the man that, when you hear Chelsea, you think Reece James.”
James has fitted seamlessly into Tuchel’s 3-4-3 formation. The 21-year-old’s dynamism makes him perfect for the right wing-back role.
His form has also helped him earn a regular place in Gareth Southgate’s preferred England team, where there is strong competition for the right-back position.
After James scored twice against Newcastle in October, Tuchel explained how the youngster and fellow wing-back Ben Chilwell work so well in his system.

“Reece is allowed to come inside, that’s not a problem,” Tuchel said.
“All the spaces we want to attack from, we have all the players in the spaces we want to be dangerous.
“If it was so easy we would just demand it every three days. In general we rely on our wing-backs to arrive in the box.
“Chilly (Ben Chilwell) was decisive in the last matches. Azpi (Cesar Azpilicueta) and Marcos (Alonso) were in earlier matches.”
