Chelsea player ratings vs Bayern Munich: Five stars flop as Blues blown away in 3-0 loss

Chelsea have it all to do in the second leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie against Bayern Munich following a demoralising 3-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.

Former Arsenal winger Serge Gnabry was once again on form as he returned to London, scoring twice against the Blues having bagged four goals when he faced Tottenham earlier this season.

Hotshot Robert Lewandowski finished the job for Bayern as Frank Lampard was left to go back to the drawing board having seen several of his stars struggle.

Express Sport has assessed the Chelsea players following the crushing loss – but do you agree with our ratings?

Chelsea player ratings vs Bayern Munich – Champions League

Willy Caballero – 6

Usual Willy moment when he headed the ball away instead of catching it. But three crucial first half saves.

Cesar Azpilicueta – 6

Looks comfortable in a back three – but a crucial slip let in Bayern for the first goal, and also at fault for the second.

Andreas Christensen – 5

Had a battle on his hands with Lewandowski. Exposed on a night that will have taught him a harsh lesson.

Antonio Rudiger – 6

Used strength well with couple of good challenges, but Bayern’s movement gave him problems. Fought well though.

Reece James – 6

Raced forward well but could not get enough good crosses in. Too often forced to track back and prduced little.

Mateo Kovacic – 7

One good early run and used the ball well. By far Chelsea’s most creative player. Had the quality to use the ball.

Jorginho – 5

Unable to exert his usual influence on the game. Weak in the tackle and kept giving the ball away. Poor.

Marcos Alonso – 5

Looked shaky, gave the ball away several times. Sent off.

Mason Mount – 5

Game passed him by for long periods as Bayern dominated. Worked hard but looked lightweight.

Olivier Giroud – 6

Battled away and flicked a couple of balls on well. But his lack of mobility did not give his midfielders enough options.

(Subbed off for Tammy Abraham – Made little impact – 6)

Ross Barkley – 5

Another who simply could not hold onto the ball. Struggled to make any kind of impact.

(Subbed off for Willian – Had little chance to show what he could do – 6)
