Chelsea chasing ‘new Neymar’, Abramovich driving Lukaku deal and Haaland blow

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is on the lookout for a top class number nine as the west Londoners look to overhaul Manchester City in the Premier League.

The Blues may have toppled Pep Guardiola’s side to win the Champions League, but they couldn’t keep up with the Citizens in the top-flight, finishing a mammoth 19 points adrift in fourth.

In order to bridge the gap, Chelsea need to sign an elite level striker capable of finding the net week in, week out.

Jorginho was the club’s top-scorer this season, with his seven Premier League strikes all coming from the penalty spot.

Daily Star Sport have taken a look at some of the forwards Tuchel might be looking at in our transfer round-up.

Chelsea chasing ‘new Neymar’

Chelsea have had their fair share of Brazilian success in the transfer market over the last decade.

Oscar and Ramires both proved successful buys, while David Luiz enjoyed two spells in west London.

And Stamford Bridge could soon be going Brazil nuts for another South American star with Chelsea reportedly keeping tabs on Santos wonderkid Kaio Jorge.

The 19-year-old has been catching the eye in the Brasileiro this season, earning favourable comparisons with both Neymar and Ronaldo.

That’s according to Eurosport, who claim the Russian is ‘personally’ driving the deal and is involved in the transfer discussions.

Inter Milan lamped out €80million to take Lukaku from Man Utd in 2019 and would require a similar fee to even consider letting him go.

    Blues dealt Haaland blow

Erling Haaland’s future is always the subject of much speculation, but the Norwegian striker looks set to stick with Borussia Dortmund for one more season.

The Athletic are reporting that Dortmund have “ruled out” a sale this summer, leaving Chelsea and Manchester City to look elsewhere for their new number nine.

If the Blues want to hold on for the 20-year-old forward, he’ll be available for £75million next summer once a release clause becomes active in his contract.
