Champions League winner unrecognisable aged 47 and says he’s fitter than Ronaldo

Ex-Champions League winner Ze Roberto has shown off his incredible new physique – and claimed that he's in better shape than Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Brazilian superstar, who is now 47, spent time on the books of European giants Bayern Munich and Real Madrid during a stunning playing career.

After finally hanging up his boots at the age of 43, Ze Roberto transitioned into a new career as a personal trainer.

And he's revealed how his sensible outlook on life and bulky new physique helped him play football well into his forties.

"I have no vices. I don't drink alcoholic beverages, I don't smoke, I eat very well, I sleep well," Ze Roberto previously told local media.

"I have my family, which is my greatest security. I think those are important factors to reach the age I reached and still continue playing at a high level."

And the former winger has revealed that his new lifestyle has allowed him to whip himself into even better shape than Ronaldo – who has been hailed for his incredible fitness levels since his return to United at the age of 36.

"Today I would say that I have a better physique because I played until I was 43 years old," he told TyC Sports when discussing his physique alongside Ronaldo's.

"If he does, I will say it is him."

As well as tasting European glory during his brief stint at Real Madrid, Ze Roberto also won a La Liga title with the Spanish giants.

The winger then went on to star in Germany during separate spells with Bayern and Bayer Leverkusen.

He won the Bundesliga four times whilst at Bayern and also lifted four German Cups in Munich.

As well as winning a host of silverware domestically, Ze Roberto also tasted success with Brazil.

The veteran won the Copa America twice with the Brazilian national team and also racked up 84 caps in total, playing at two World Cups.

After leaving Bayern, Ze Roberto finished up his illustrious playing career in his native Brazil, appearing for Gremio and Palmeiras before hanging up his boots for good at 43 – not that you'd be able to tell from his remarkable body transformation.

Meanwhile Ronaldo is seemingly intent on maintaining his elite fitness – after it emerged he has installed a £15,000 hi-tech oxygen chamber in his Cheshire home.

The Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) machine sends pure air to the Portuguese ace’s blood plasma, repairing damaged tissue and making him feel electric.

"Everyone knows Cristiano is a fitness fanatic and totally dedicated to being in the best shape he can be,” a source close to the former Real Madrid and Juventus star told the Sun.

“He’s used oxygen chambers before in his career but they are not as easy to find in the UK so he decided to buy one and have it installed at his house.

"It means if he ever feels a twinge he can go and use it and get the benefits. “These are the reasons why he misses so few games due to injury.”
