Bruno Fernandes has been a revelation ever since joining Manchester United in January 2020, and Lee Sharpe believes he can go down as one of the greats.
Fernandes helped guide his side to the Europa League title last year. They finished runners-up to Villarreal, but thanks to an excellent Premier League campaign they finished second and qualified for the Champions League with ease.
United will be looking to go one better this season, and Fernandes has already got them off to the best possible start, scoring a hat-trick in their 5-1 opening day victory against Leeds.
If the 26-year-old can keep up his blistering form, and bring the title back to Old Trafford, he will surely be up there with the United greats.
Former United star Sharpe, who was speaking in conjunction with William Hill, has given his advice on how Fernandes can become one of the greats and told Daily Star Sport: "Going forward, his passing ability and his awareness and his finishing is world class.
"That has to be part of the managers tactics, to play higher up the pitch and get people like him on the ball and give him the chance to score because he’s a fantastic finisher."
Sharpe went on to say: "We get the best out of Bruno Fernandes in the final third, so let’s get him into the final third and let’s give him the ball as much as we can in that area, then there’s no reason why he shouldn’t be up there with the greats."
The former United man has been critical at times over the past few months about the Portuguese midfielder, as he said: "He can give the ball away a little bit cheaply in vital areas and put his team under a little bit of pressure."
However, it's clear that in the final third he is prolific and Sharpe's belief that he can become one of the best at Old Trafford is extremely high praise from the man who played alongside players such as Roy Keane, Eric Cantona, Paul Scholes and David Beckham.
