Bruno Fernandes dubbed ‘new Paul Scholes’ by fans for dummy in fresh Watford vid

Bruno Fernandes has been dubbed the “new Paul Scholes” by Manchester United fans as his dummy against Watford emerged in a new clip.

The Red Devils saw off the relegation battlers 3-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday.

And their new Portuguese star got his first goal for United from the penalty spot.

Fernandes has already impressed manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who heaped praise on the 25-year-old after the game.

And footage has emerged which shows why the midfielder has earned some praise.

In the clip, the Portuguese star is on his own in the middle of the pitch at Old Trafford.

He approaches the defence to pick up the ball.

Fernandes comes under pressure from a Watford player – but this is not a problem for the United star.

He appears to dummy the ball before flicking it first time to his right to start another attack, drawing a gasp of amazement from the crowd.

This footage was shared on Twitter on Tuesday, where it has been viewed more than 85,000 times.

And the United faithful were blown away by Fernandes’ skills.

Solskjaer has also drawn the same conclusions about the midfielder.

Speaking after the Watford win, he said” “He is a goal-scoring and assisting midfielder, a little bit like Paul Scholes.

“He can strike a ball fantastically. He has got such a wonderful technique, but he also is going to get assists from set-plays and from his range of passes.

“He is a similar type to Scholesy – fiery, passionate, hates losing and he's got the same number on the back of the shirt.

“He can play in a three-man midfield, as a No.10, off the side and in a diamond. We'll give him time to find his best position.

“He's fit to play and he will definitely be in the squad. He's had a few hectic days now – his little daughter was three-years-old yesterday – so I don't know how much he will be involved.”

United are next in action on Thursday in their Europa League second-leg against Club Brugge.
