‘Hi guys, delighted to say that I have signed a new deal with Aston Villa,’ Grealish said in the post.

‘It is my club, my home and I am very happy here.

‘The owners have made it very clear to me how ambitious they are and how they want to build Aston Villa. There are exciting times ahead and I am very glad to be part of it.

Solskjaer’s United held talks with Villa last month as they considered their midfield options

Sportsmail revealed last month that United had held talks with the West Midlands club over a deal for the 25-year-old.

Having seen a move for Jadon Sancho stall, United boss Solskjaer was keen to bring in Grealish, but Villa would have demanded £80million for him.

United were also monitoring Donny van de Beek before moving for the Ajax star earlier this summer in a £40m deal.

But Grealish has now extended his stay at his boyhood club having made his debut in 2013-14

But now attacking midfielder Grealish, who made his first appearance for England against Denmark last week, will extend his stay at his hometown club, which he has played for since he was eight-years-old.

Grealish went on to make his debut in the 2013-14 season, going on to make 186 appearances since, scoring 25 goals.

Villa begin their Premier League campaign at home to Sheffield United on Monday after Grealish played a fundamental role in the club retaining its top-flight status in 2019-20.

He scored 10 goals and provided eight assists in 41 games last season as Villa avoided the drop.
