Nicklas Bendtner was never as bad as social media would have you believe – however, his off the field antics would often play into the 'Lord Bendtner' character.
Bendtner – who spent nine years at Arsenal – retired on Thursday morning at the age of 33, after rounding out his playing for Tarnby FF's veteran side in his native Denmark.
He's been on quite the journey since he left Arsenal – that saw him playing for Sunderland one season and Juventus the next.
However, during his North London days, it was just as common to see Bendtner on the turf of the Emirates as it was to see him enjoying the London nightlife.
Whilst he was often spotted at common nightclubs for footballers – he wasn't happy with hangers-on and 'gold-diggers that those night clubs sprouted, according to The Athletic.
As a result, he often found himself gravitating towards clubs like Boujis – a club that brands itself as 'the best playground for rich & famous to party in South Kensington'.
Here, the Danish International would socialise with Royalty, in particular, Prince Harry, who Bendtner described as: “always friendly, always down to earth,” to The Athletic.
But his links with the bourgeoisie doesn't end there; his next serious relationship was with Caroline Fleming, a baroness and Danish noble.
The now-former footballer wasn't too far away from controversy off the pitch, and he occasionally caused some on it.
Like his appearances at the Emirates after 2009, his appearances at Boujis wained, and after 2014 he was gone from the capital.
