Barcelona star Memphis Depay embarrassed as Thierry Henry "doesn’t know him"

Being at Barcelona means more than just being a football player, it elevates you to a status of celebrity that is not very common at other clubs.

Over the years, some of the biggest players in the world have played for the Blaugrana – Lionel Messi, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo. But for Memphis Depay, there was a sobering moment when he went to meet Thierry Henry.

The legendary striker – known for his goalscoring antics across the Premier League and La Liga with Arsenal and Barcelona – returned to his former club as they were training to drop them a surprise visit. There were a collection of youngsters gobsmacked by his presence and old pals reuniting including the likes of Gerard Pique and Sergio Busquets.

In a series of hand-slapping and kind words, Depay clearly felt that he could get the chance to have a conversation with the Frenchman. Unfortunately, that feeling was not mutual with Henry breezing past and speaking to the next awestruck player instead.

The poor Dutchman was left feeling somewhat pied as he awkwardly made his way out of the crowd with the cold fact settling in that he might not be Henry's guy. Fans were quick to pick up on the embarrassing meeting, as well, to rub salt further in the wounds.

One said: "Depay is killing me. Henry don’t know you like that bro." While another wrote: "Here I am thinking of the possible connections between them. When it dawned on me that there isn't any, laughed my a** out."

And this fan said: "Dammmmn! Totally vented Depay there." To which someone else replied: "That was harsh."

A fifth supporter had one theory, though, saying: "Naaaaa the pure rejection was deep, must’ve heard the spurs rumours."
