Mikel Arteta wants a clear-out at Arsenal so the club can seal the signing of Orkun Kokcu and complete further deals, according to reports.
Arsenal have opened talks with Feyenoord over a £23million deal for Kokcu, but the club are likely to need to sell to raise transfer funds.
A recent exit from the Europa League mean Arsenal can only qualify for the Champions League through the Premier League and the Gunners are currently tenth in the table.
The Daily Mail claim Arteta has ordered a ruthless clear-out and already has three players in mind he wants to offload.
Midfielder Matteo Guendouzi, centre-back Sokratis and youngster Ainsley Maitland-Niles are all facing the axe this summer, while Mesut Ozil could be a high profile sale.
Ozil is the club’s top earner, but has failed to perform consistently for the club since signing a huge deal in February 2018.
Guendouzi has reportedly fallen out with Arteta due to disciplinary reasons and was dropped from the squad when Arsenal returned from their winter break.
The Frenchman has been restored to Arteta’s matchday squads, but it appears Arteta is open to Guendouzi leaving if he can bring in new faces.
Arteta wants a busy summer after he was restricted to loan signings during the winter transfer window.
Pablo Mari made his debut for Arsenal in their last game against Portsmouth but the injured Cedric Soares is yet to feature for his new team.
Arteta has been linked with a host of names and reportedly wants most of his transfer business done before the European Championships get into full swing this summer.
As well as opening talks to sign Kokcu, Arsenal are closely following Gent forward Jonathan David who they see as a potential replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
