Arsenal's 'best ever youngster' scored a wonderful solo goal against Manchester United U23 as he left both Phil Jones and Dean Henderson for dust.

Patino, 17, is showing serious potential in the Arsenal academy and despite his young age lined up against the United side which featured both Jones and Henderson.

The Gunners were leading 2-1 in the closing exchanges of the match when the midfielder worked hard to win the ball back in his opponent's half.

After taking possession he dribbled past two players and into the box where Jones slid in with no success before Patino dinked the ball past a despairing Henderson.

The scout who unearthed Jack Wilshere, Sean O'Connor, believes Patino is the best player he's seen during his tenure with the north London club.

His colleague, Brian Stapleton, told Goal: "Of all the years I’ve been scouting, he’s the best kid I’ve ever seen.

“Sean O’Connor discovered Jack Wilshere and he said to me that Charlie is the best player who has ever walked through the doors at Hale End.

“The kid has got so much potential, but he’s not there yet.

Should Patino be given a crack at the Arsenal first team? Let us know in the comments section.

“There is a pathway that Arsenal have got for him and he’s probably going down the same pathway as Phil Foden at Manchester City.

“Charlie has an amazing awareness of where he is on the pitch and where other players are on the pitch. His vision is so good, he can split a defence with a pass.

“And he has that desire to do well. When he’s on that pitch he can be an animal, he’s a winner.”

Patino has already mixed it with the first team this season as he took part in the 4-0 friendly win over Brentford during the international break.

He was given 58 minutes of action and his performances in the youth set-up may now prompt calls for him to be called up to the senior squad for competitive games.

His fellow academy star Folarin Balogun scored the other two goals for Arsenal while another 17-year-old, Shola Shoretire, netted for United.
