Manchester United star Anthony Martial has no interest in joining Newcastle United, despite being eager to leave Old Trafford, reports suggest. Martial, who has struggled for game time under Ralf Rangnick, is eager to leave the club.

Newcastle’s transfer spending spree is already underway, with Kieran Trippier set to join imminently.

The England international will join in a deal worth £12million from Atletico Madrid.

Trippier was identified before the window opened and the Magpies’ new ownership acted quickly to get a deal done.

Now, attention turns to bringing in players in other positions, with a new forward, centre-back and midfielder wanted.

As a result of their £305million takeover, they have the financial capability to sign any player in the world.

But one star they are unlikely to secure the signature of is Martial.

According to the Telegraph, Martial believes there are better options available to him, and has no interest in signing for Newcastle.

That news will come as a major setback for Eddie Howe, who is scrambling to find a replacement for Callum Wilson.

The English striker hobbled off against United with a hamstring injury and is facing months on the sidelines.

A string of world-class talent has been linked, but it seems Newcastle might well have their work cut out for them in the transfer market.

Howe’s side currently occupy 19th place in the Premier League table.

They have collected just 11 points this season, winning just one of their 19 games.

As a result, it has been suggested players may be unwilling to go to a club who could be relegated this season, and are looking elsewhere instead.

And that seems to be the case for Martial, too.

The French striker has made no secret of his desire to move on, and it seems United aren’t too fussed about parting ways with a player they spent £36m on in 2015.

However, despite making himself available, there has been a shortage of offers so far.

Sevilla have made a loan bid, but that offer was deemed unacceptable by decision-makers at Old Trafford.
