Raiders’ brutal Bunnies burn in lead-up to season-defining clash

Both the Canberra Raiders and South Sydney Rabbitohs have made their feelings known before Thursday night’s clash on social media.

The Rabbitohs kicked it off with a video of the Raiders’ Viking horn being blown pre-game with the sound replace by Homer Simpson’s ‘Saxamaphone’.

Canberra though hit back replying: “Third year in a row for this joke. Just like your Prelim record.”

The Rabbitohs, of course, have come agonisingly close to premiership glory in the last three years only to fall short in the preliminary final every time, including a 16-10 loss to the Raiders in 2019.

Third year in a row for this joke. Just like your Prelim record

Canberra went on to lose the grand final to the Roosters in contentious circumstances and South Sydney made sure to remind them of it, replying: “We’ll keep doing it again and again… six again.”

On the field at the moment the Raiders don’t have much to laugh about, currently in the midst of a three-game losing run.

A victory over the high-flying Rabbitohs could be season-defining for the Raiders.

Front rower Josh Papalii, who turned match winner in the 2019 preliminary final, will be rested from Thursday’s game.

South Sydney will again be without Latrell Mitchell but will be hoping for another Benji Marshall masterclass after the five-eighth inspired last week’s 40-30 win over the Titans.
