F1 fans trolled Haas racer Nikita Mazepin as he crashed off the Bahrain GP course in his very first lap.

The Russian billionaire, making his debut at 22 years old for the American team, started the opening race of the 2021 season in 19th following qualification.

But he was soon at the back of the pack, with Aston Martin's Sebastian Vettel overtaking at the first corner.

Letting the rest of the pack get away, the youngster tried to get acceleration down the first straight after three corenrs.

Mazepin, though, ended up losing grip on his rear wheels and skidding onto the gravel before slamming into the barriers.

The Haas racer was not left with any injuries from the crash, able to get out of the car and jog away – but he was ruled out of the race.

The Russian has not gained many supporters since signing a multi-million pound deal with the team due to a controversial past of punching rivals and groping.

And, while the 22-year-old was left licking his wounds, F1 fans were left in stitches at his misfortune in the first lap of racing.

"Mazepin doing his best to cancel himself from F1," one said.

Another commented sarcastically: "Mazepin out after two whole corners!"

While a third held nothing back, with: "Mazepin proving once again money can buy you an f1 seat but not talent & skills."

And a fourth added: "I didn't think Mazepin was that bad but he's absolutely useless."

A fifth wrote: "He's had a hell of a first Grand Prix. He made it all the way to turn three – much further than most of us thought he’d last!

"This kid is nothing but a clown, who has a daddy with some money!"

With a final F1 fan simply writing: "Mazepin is a nonce!"

Mazepin and Schumacher, son of F1 legend Michael, are part of Haas' new-look team that replaced Kevin Magnussen and Romain Grosjean in the off-season.

  • But the Russian has courted controversy throughout his career and Haas were forced to issue a strongly-worded statement condemning Mazepin's "abhorrent" behaviour just a week after he inked his deal with the team.

In a video posted on social media, Mazepin appeared to touch a woman inappropriately while in the back seat of a car.

The video was later deleted and, despite calls for the driver to be dropped, Haas insisted that the matter had been dealt with internally and Mazepin will still represent their team.
