What a fortnight for the Sydney Swans.
They’re 2-0 after impressive wins against the Lions and Crows, Buddy Franklin has welcomed another baby — and now Luke Parker is getting hitched.
Luke, the 28-year-old midfield star, announced his engagement to longtime girlfriend and interior designer Kate Lawrence on Monday.
The couple, who have been dating for more than eight years, both posted photos of Kate showing off her ring with cute captions.
“She likes me back,” Luke wrote.
“Just You & Me,” she added.
They received a rousing reception with footy stars like Joel Selwood and Tom Hawkins and TV personalities like Abbey Gelmi and Erin Holland offering their congratulations.
“Congratulations to a couple of our favourites Luke and Kate on your engagement!” Luke’s footy club added on Facebook.

Luke hails from Victoria but met Kate a couple of years after moving to Sydney to play for the Swans.
He has enjoyed an impressive career, winning two best and fairests, finishing runner-up in the 2016 Brownlow Medal and being named co-captain of the Swans in 2019.
He clocked up 200 games last year and Kate marked the occasion by writing: “So proud of you on your 200th game for the Swans. I’ve been so lucky to go on this crazy journey with you over the past 7 and a half years & you continue to amaze me everyday on and off the field with what you achieve. But mostly I am proud because you are such a beautiful person & that trumps all! Love you.”

Away from footy Luke has partnered with Kate in flipping a number of properties in Sydney’s east, including apartments in Coogee and Maroubra.
The couple pocketed $3.2 million when they auctioned a five-bedroom house at Malabar last year after purchasing the property for $2.66 million in 2017.
Kate originally studied media at university but “decided pretty quickly the 9-5 office world was not for me”.
“I was still prepared to work hard, but was in pursuit of the cliche, but ever so accurate, ‘build a life you love’ and was certain despite contrary beliefs that surrounded me, it was possible,” she writes on her website.

“I had graduated university, finally cracked a job in the media world where I remained for a few years before my obsession for renovating had me questioning my stable path. Taking that risk to leave is something I will never regret.”
