Tyson Fury confirms WWE SummerSlam plans as he speaks to "Vince and the boys"

Tyson Fury has hinted that he could next be seen in the WWE ring at SummerSlam following his victory over Dillian Whyte on Saturday night.

‘The Gypsy King’ knocked out Whyte with an almighty uppercut in the sixth round of their monumental clash to retain the WBC heavyweight title and take his record to 33 bouts without defeat. However, it looks like the end of a fairy-tale of a career for Fury.

After the match, he confirmed his retirement, though did throw fans a lifeline. The 33-year-old suggested that he may be seen at WWE SummerSlam in July, the first big pay-per-view stadium show in the UK in the last 30 years.

Asked about the event, Fury said: “Don’t rule me out of fighting there. You might see me at SummerSlam, coming up soon.

“I’ve got to speak to Vince (McMahon) and the boys, maybe make this happen. I know Drew McIntyre has been saying a lot of things about me, I’ll have to knock him out, like I did his pal. I’d love to be at Cardiff, I’d love to be in the centre stage in the UK, especially for the wrestling.

“I enjoyed it last time in Saudi Arabia, it was fantastic, so to come here and do it would be phenomenal. We’re definitely going to make a bit of contact and see if we can make that SummerSlam thing a reality.”

Fury has previously wrestled in the WWE back in October 2019 and has continuously made it clear that he has every intention of returning to the sport. He made his debut against Braun Strowman and won the match via count-out.

Fury wrote on Instagram previously: “Best believe I will be back to grace the squared circle in front of the WWE universe soon enough as I’ve got some unfinished business to take care of! By the way, the UK fans would love a Wrestlemania right here in the nation’s capital at Wembley Stadium and guess what, the Gypsy King is ready."

His wife, Paris, also told BBC Newcastle: “He is in touch with Vince McMahon all the time. He loves it. My sons are all big fans of it. For Tyson to do it is kind of like a Disneyland trip, the kids love to go and they meet all the wrestlers. To be that cool dad that can give his kids that dream, he does it.” It remains to be seen which event Fury makes his return to WWE in.
