UFC Heavyweight Champion Francis Ngannou said his possible clash with Tyson Fury could potentially be fought with MMA gloves.
A hybrid clash with the WBC Heavyweight Champion has regularly been touted ever since the Gypsy King’s ruthless sixth round knockout victory against Dillian Whyte. Fury has repeatedly hinted his incredible victory in front of a 94,000 capacity crowd at Wembley could be the final curtain of his illustrious career.
However, Ngannou has appeared very optimistic about the potential of taking on the 33-year-old, even hinting that he will only sign a new UFC contract is he is able to take on the Brit. And while the Cameroonian admitted the possible bout is in very early stages, he believes they could square up against each other with MMA gloves.
“Yes it could be, it could be with MMA gloves,” Ngannou said to the True Geordie podcast. “We have not really thought about it or how it could play out.
“First of all, we have an engagement with our promotion right now, so unless they are on board, we can’t really talk about the terms. Now we are hoping we can get it done some time next year, because either way, next year, we will be at the point of go, whether it is with or without our promotions.”
Ngannou has not been seen in the Octagon since his victory over Ciryl Gane in January. The Cameroonian, who holds an impressive 17-3-0 record in the UFC, overcame the Frenchman by an unanimous decision to retain his world title.

However, he is currently locked in very tight negotiations with UFC chief Dana White. Ngannou has made his desire to fight Fury abundantly clear, even suggesting he will not sign a new deal unless a bout with the Gypsy King is on the table.
And the 35-year-old further exemplified his desire to fight the Boxing heavyweight, stating “It’s clear that the fight will happen. “I was there at the ring to watch him (Fury) fight and it was a beautiful knockout.
"But we have our own statements we want to make; we want to find out who the baddest mother****** on the planet is. He is the boxing champion of the world, I am the UFC champion of the world, so we can come together and see what is the outcome."
