Nikita Tszyu v Ben Horn LIVE updates: Battle of the Brothers in Sydney

  • 1 of 1

How good is Nikita Tszyu?

It’s an impossible question to answer given we have seen so little of him. Tszyu’s first opponent, Aaron Stahl, was knocked out in the second round. In his last fight, the previously unbeaten Mason Smith was stopped inside the first.

This fight with Horn is scheduled for six rounds, but it’s also unlikely to go the distance. Hopefully the underdog can at least stretch Tszyu further than he’s gone before so we can run the rule over his ringcraft.

It’s worth remembering that Tszyu gave up boxing to pursue a career in architecture and has only recently recommitted to the sport.

Good evening fight fans!

A very warm welcome to you from the Hordern Pavilion where, not for the first time, we are looking forward to an entertaining Tszyu-Horn clash. This time it’s Nikita Tszyu taking on Ben Horn in the “Battle of the Brothers”, two years after Tim Tszyu earned a technical knockout victory over Jeff Horn to effectively end the career of “The Hornet”.

This will be just Nikita’s third professional fight and hopefully it goes for longer than his first two. “The Butcher” has needed just a tick under eight minutes of ring time to dispose of his first two victims, leaving a slew of potential opponents running scared. To his credit, Ben Horn has accepted the challenge in an attempt to square the ledger between the famous fighting families.

It will be a huge ask for Horn, who has a 4-4 record as a pro and has been installed as a 15-1 outsider with bookmakers.

That clash will be the main event, but there’s boxing action aplenty this evening. We’ve also got a nine-fight undercard that includes former footballer Justin Hodges taking on influencer Jordan Simi.

So strap in as we bring you all the action from ringside!
