If Derek Chisora has any nerves about his blockbuster fight with Joseph Parker on Saturday night he sure isn’t showing them.

‘Del Boy’ wore a big smile at an open workout on Wednesday, which was closed to members of the public due to Covid fears so close to the fight.

Chisora appeared relaxed in front of his team and a handful of media members as he and Parker took a step closer to fight night by going through their paces in the ring.

But it wasn’t all business for the two fighters as they found time in the workout schedule to oversee a game of musical chairs among media members.

Chisora, a natural entertainer at moments like this, picked random media and ex fighters out of the crowd to play the popular party game.

Former rugby star and heavyweight boxer Sonny Bill Williams was picked out by Parker for the game, which also included former British fighter Anthony Crolla and TV personality Josh Denzel.

Chisora has kept a cool demeanour in fight week in what is a blockbuster heavyweight bout

Saturday night is an all-or-nothing rematch for both fighters but at 37, Chisora has seen it all before.

It is viewed widely as a career-defining fight but Chisora has consistently looked relaxed in his camp and revealed this week that he has found a new pass time: gate-crashing weddings at the Wortley Hall hotel, where he’s been based during training camp, ‘too keep myself occupied,’ as he says.

The usually London-based Chisora has spent every Monday to Thursday in Rotherham in recent weeks and months, having reunited with trainer Dave Coldwell, who was in the 37-year-old’s corner for his second-round stoppage win over Artur Szpilka in 2019.

‘They love it,’ Chisora told media when asked what guests make of his gatecrashing.

‘They tell me: ‘Oh my god, come to my wedding, help us cut the cake’. They love it. Who wouldn’t want a boxer at their wedding?

‘I enjoy it, man. I keep telling young fighters to enjoy everything. I enjoy leaving my house in London to come here and train, put my body through so much pain, then going back home and coming here again on a Monday morning. I’m just enjoying it right now.’

There was enough calm for Chisora to arrange a game of musical chairs for media members

Parker, ranked No 2 in the world by the WBO body, came back from a first-round knockdown to beat Chisora last time out at the same venue back in May in a split-decision win.

He knows defeat to Chisora this time round could prove calamitous to his prospects of getting shots at the biggest heavyweight belts.

‘I want the best Derek Chisora,’ he said recently, via ringTV. ‘I got a hard pressure fighter in the first fight with Derek and I think that he’ll be looking to make little adjustments to improve, so I am looking forward to what he’s going to bring.

‘As long as I do what I can do it’s not going to go the distance, but I know he feels the same way. There’s no issues for me in the build up with a great camp and injury free.’
