Conor McGregor trolls Poirier with screenshot of Diamond’s wife ‘sending’ DM

Conor McGregor has made one last-ditch effort to get into the head of opponent Dustin Poirier, ahead of their trilogy bout set to take place this weekend.

When McGregor returned to UFC competition last year to face Donald Cerrone, he elected not to talk trash and was uncharacteristically respectful towards his opponent.

The same could be said during the build-up to his clash with Poirier earlier this year. However, following his loss to the Diamond via second-round knockout, it seems the McGregor of old has finally made a return.

Last night, McGregor shared a screenshot with his 8.7m followers on Twitter.

The photo appeared to show Jolie Poirier, the wife of McGregor’s upcoming opponent Dustin, trying to DM the Irishman on Instagram. While it is unclear what the message was about, and whether the screenshot is actually real, the post proved popular among McGregor’s fans, receiving over 50k likes in under 12 hours.

However, other MMA fans were not pleased with McGregor’s antics.

One commenter said “Don’t bring the wife in this like you did with Khabib [Nurmagomedov]. There is a line.”

Another claimed “The previous fight between you two was a very respectful build up which was refreshing to see. Now you’re bringing family into it? I preferred how you guys were acting in the build-up to the second fight.

UFC 264 takes place on July 10 at the T-Mobile Arena in Nevada and is shaping up to be a brilliant night of fights.

Alongside McGregor vs. Poirier III, a welterweight clash between Gilbert Burns and Stephen Wonderboy Thompson is slated to feature in the co-main event slot.

Sean O’Malley and jiu-jitsu star Ryan Hall are also expected to make their highly anticipated returns, facing Kris Moutinho and Ilia Topuria respectively.

Disgraced former NFL player Greg Hardy will make his ninth walk to the UFC octagon against fan favourite Tai Tuivasa in a heavyweight showdown.
