There’s been plenty of talk about Khamzat Chimaev and the UFC phenom decided to continue the conversation inside the Octagon as the 27-year-old put on another stunning display at UFC 267.

The Swede has set tongues wagging since his debut in July 2020, with fans and pundits earmarking the welterweight – who has been hit just once during his UFC career – as a future champion.

And Chimaev proved that the hype is real as the Russia-born fighter swept past Li Jingliang in just one round, all while speaking with UFC president Dana White.

The UFC phenom defeated No 11-ranked welterweight Li Jingliang with a rear naked choke

The Chinese star, ranked No 11 in the welterweight division, was expected to provide Chimaev his first stern test on the big stage but the Swede made light work of his rival.

Chimaev immediately went for the takedown as the action commenced and, while holding Jingliang in mid-air, spoke to White who was sat Octagon-side in remarkable scenes reminiscent of Khabib Nurmagomedov talking to the UFC chief during his win over Michael Johnson at UFC 205.

‘I said to Dana “I am the king here. I am here for a long time and I am going to kill everybody”. He went to sleep bro!’ Chimaev told Daniel Cormier after the fight.

‘I couldn’t take him down that early and I wanted to talk to Dana White. I come here for everybody, I am the champ, I am the king here!’

It is becoming increasingly difficult to see who can stop Chimaev, and the 27-year-old was even heard yelling former heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar’s name as he swanned around the Octagon.

UFC fans took to Twitter to hail the 27-year-old, with many predicting that the undefeated welterweight is destined for a UFC title.

‘Khamzat is the scariest fighter I’ve seen in a long time,’ one fan admitted. ‘It’s no wonder no one wants to fight him. He needs a top five fighter next. Luque, Burns, or even Covington after Usman beats him next week or the loser of the Edwards vs Masvidal fight.’

‘Khamzat is special,’ another fan wrote. ‘I’m looking forward to seeing him against the elite in his division.’

‘Khamzat looks even better than Khabib did when he first started in the UFC,’ one fan said.
