Canelo Alvarez has told Oscar De La Hoya to ‘go f*** yourself’ as the Mexican ramped up his war of words with his old promoter following their acrimonious split last year.
Boxing’s pound-for-pound king left Golden Boy Promotions in 2020 after Canelo sued De La Hoya before securing his free agency thanks to an out-of-court settlement at the end of the year.
The Mexican pair have kept tight-lipped regarding the split for some time, until Canelo made mention of the boxing great ahead of his victory over Billy Joe Saunders last month.

The 31-year-old claimed that his former promoter had ‘no loyalty’ and is more ‘worried about drinking’ in a series of stinging remarks.
De La Hoya has responded with a dig aimed at Canelo, with the 48-year-old commenting underneath a video of the superstar demonstrating boxing technicals to a youngster on Instagram.
‘Please, this guy does everything wrong,’ De La Hoya said.

Canelo did not take kindly to De La Hoya’s critique, doubling down on his previous comments relating to his old promoter.
‘Oh really? You want me to talk? F***ing traitor,’ he said. ‘Do me a favour and go f*** yourself.’
De La Hoya will make a return to the ring after agreeing to fight on a Triller Fight Club card. He was linked with a cross-over fight with Georges St-Pierre, but Dana White has prohibited that bout from materialising.
