Boxing star Butterbean became a sensation in his sport during the late 1990's and early 2000's, but now his net worth has fallen below what Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo earns in just one week. Eric Esch – better known as Butterbean – announced himself on the world boxing stage in 1994, and went on to make a great name for himself.

The American earned his nickname after being forced to go onto a strict diet of butterbeans and chicken to meet weight requirements for Toughman Contest and became a fan favourite due to his hard-hitting knockouts. Whilst competing on the Toughman circuit he became five-time heavyweight champion.

As well as this Butterbean also became the IBA four-round Super Heavyweight champion of the world, earning him the nickname the 'King of the 4 Rounders'.

Butterbean's skills did not just stop at boxing though, after the 56-year-old also tried his hand at both kick boxing and mixed martial arts throughout his fighting career. After an illustrious career in the ring, the heavyweight's net worth currently sits at £427,000 according to Celebrity Net Worth.

In spite of all of his success and fame, this figure is dwarfed by what the legendary Ronaldo earns in just on single week. The Portuguese forward mega a lucrative move back to United in the summer of 2021, and reportedly put pen to paper on a mega-money deal reported to be worth £480,000 a week.

The 37-year-old's signing was arguably the biggest of the 2021 summer transfer window, and played a big part in the Red Devils hugely increased wage bill which rose by a mammoth 23 percent. Whilst Butterbean's worth may be lower than some may have imagined, one aspect that may help him increase it is a return to the boxing ring.

The fan favourite announced in March that he was planning a remarkable comeback in 2023, and called out YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul to take him on. Butterbean posted on social media: "I’m working with DDP to get up walking and running around again and I’m feeling the best shape I ever have.

"I’m at fight weight. You’ll have to listen to my podcast coming up to find exactly how much weight I have lost, but I haven’t weighed this in over 20 years so that’ll give you an idea. The big announcement is I’m gonna fight one last fight. It’s gonna be one year from now.

"Jake Paul, if you’re ready, I’m here for you my friend. Let’s get it on, me and you Jake Paul. I bet it would be an awesome fight. After you said what you said about me in the magazine, I’m ready to fight you. Are you ready? I don’t think so."
