Boxer Isiah Jones, 28, dies after being ‘shot during family argument’

Boxer Isiah Jones has died at the age of 28 amid reports that he was shot during a dispute with a member of his family. The Top Rank star was shot in his home town of Detroit.

The Detroit Police Department said on Monday evening that a man aged 28 man was killed in an incident involving a relative at approximately 6:26 pm.

DAZN boxing correspondent Corey Erdman said on Tuesday: "Received the horrible news that middleweight Isiah Jones was killed last night."

With trainer Roshawn Jones tweeted: "Lost his life yesterday in a tragic event! Please keep his family in your prayers."

Under the guidance of Roshawn and Kenneth Ross, Isiah won each of his first eight professional bouts after winning the 2016 National Golden Gloves.

Having lost seven fights in a row after leaving that camp, his last bout came in a points defeat against Andrew Murphy in July. He was thought to be training for a return to the ring at the time of his passing.
