American Football star vomits on pitch after insane 72-yard touchdown

American Football star Chris Jefferson had a memorable first game of the college season scoring an incredible 72-yard touchdown before being sick because of his effort. Jefferson later said he laughed after being sick knowing the television footage would be made into a meme.

Purdue were four points behind with eight minutes remaining when defensive back Jefferson intercepted the ball and went on a mazy run resulting in a touchdown to give his side a 31-28 lead over Penn State, only for his side to lose late on.

The effort in the season's opening game had an obvious toll on Jefferson who was sick on the sidelines. Despite eventually losing the game, the efforts of fifth-year safety stole the headlines thanks to his 'pick six' touchdown for Purdue.

Fox College Football tweeted a video of the college student being sick on the sidelines with the comment: "Chris Jefferson left it all on the field for that 72-yard pick six." Meanwhile, College Football analyst Joel Klatt said: "You can tell he ran hard!”

Adam Rittenberg, senior writer at ESPN spoke to the defensive back after the game, Jefferson said: "As soon as I threw up, I started laughing because I already knew I was going to be a meme. I was tired.

"All jokes aside, though, me being tired, we were all gassed. I feel like that's why we gave up that last touchdown."

To make matters worse for Jefferson, his side conceded with less than a minute left on the clock as Penn State dramatically won the game 35-31.

"It's never fun when you lose so it's definitely a disappointing football game where our team did show a lot of fight," said Purdue coach Jeff Brohm.

"We came back after a lapse in the first half and took the lead. Offensively we need to close out the game and that's disappointing."
